Marvelous Maddy!

I had so much fun doing Maddy's portraits today at Mueller Park Canyon. It was beautiful up there and aside from the horseflies, was a wonderful place to be. Maddy has the most beautiful eyes and the cutest little smile!

Finally, I got Blogger to cooperate and was able to post my pictures! Yay!

Oh, and don't you think Maddy would make a great photographer's assistant? She loved pulling my rolling camera bag!

Quail

It's a pretty common occurrence to see quails in our neighborhood. And this time of year, we're often lucky to spot a whole family of them...Dad and Mom with little babies running along behind them. Yesterday we saw a bunch of them in our backyard, but they scurry away so fast, I didn't have time to grab my camera. Today, my kids alerted me that the quails were back. I grabbed the camera and got a few shots before they ran off. Later, we saw them again out front. I couldn't get any of the babies -- they were hiding under the bush -- but Daddy Quail was up on my neighbor's roof chirping at anyone who came near.

Please ignore the weeds in a very neglected corner of my yard! :)

Beachfront Property in Utah

Who knew that in less than 30 minutes, I could drive to the beach from my house? Well, okay it's not a REAL beach, but in photos it almost looks like one. I took Mallory, Alex and Mallory's friend Emily to Saltair the other night. We met up with my friends, Janae and Travis and their daughters for some fun sunset shots. The kids had a great time and can't wait to go back. I was pleasantly surprised that the smell wasn't even that bad...and because we applied liberal amounts of insect repellant, we didn't get eaten alive by the bugs. Okay, there were a few seagull skeletons scattered about, but it can't all be perfect, right? Oh, and thanks Janae, for bringing the ottoman. I'm thinking the green velvet chaise lounge would go great with it!

Here are some my favorite shots!

Zoom Zoom

I had a fun evening out with Nate last night. We went to a car show down on Main Street. Nate has been our car boy from day one. We used to thrill and impress our friends and family with his knowledge, when at age 3, he could name the make and model of just about any car he saw. As a little tyke, his first question when he met people was always, "What kind of car do you drive?" His summer jobs for the last three years have been working for car dealerships. His car is always spotlessly clean, inside and out, so that's the one I like to drive when he's not using it.

When it comes to cars, I really love all the details, so a lot of the shots I took were closeups of different parts of the cars.

Gotta love the classic Mustang.

Although your reflection in a car isn't exactly the most flattering, I thought it was pretty funny. Better than a fun house mirror.

More fun closeups.

Nothin' says fun in a small town on a Friday night than a burnout contest. This car was the winner. Apparently, the driver won a gift certificate to a local tire store. He'll need some new tires judging by the skid marks he left on the road.

One of Nate's favorite cars of the night.

Here's a license plate with some attitude.
