Houghton Family

This photo session was so much fun for me because it was with my cousin Wendy and her cute little family. Some of my favorite childhood memories include spending time with Wendy and her brothers when they came to visit us from California each summer. We had tons of fun together playing Barbies, going on treasure hunts, eating TV dinners in Grandma and Grandpa's living room and skipping rocks at the reservoir with Grandpa.

Hard to believe so many years have flown by and we both have families of our own.

Here are a few of my favorites from our session.

Messer Family -- More Fall Colors!

I'm so glad I was able to capture some other people's families in the fall leaves. I never did find time to do some of my own family in the beautiful colors this year.....but oh well! We can't do an official family shoot until next year when Nate is home from his mission anyway.

Love this family I'm displaying today. They live just two houses away from us and are great friends of ours.

Frischnecht Family Photos

A few months ago, I did newborn shots for this family when they welcomed their sweet little guy Bodie to the world. Fast forward five months, and it's time for a family session. I brought along my trusty assistant Alex, who went above and beyond coaxing smiles and eye contact out of Bodie.

Here's a sneak peak of some of my favorites.

I Hear the Train A- Comin'

We had a couple of days off from school recently, so we decided to ride the Frontrunner train to Salt Lake....yes, all the way to Salt Lake... We talked some friends into coming along with us. Parker, however, was not interested in accompanying us on our excursion. (I guess he had enough of riding trains with us when we were in New York over the summer.) That's okay. We managed to have fun without him. When you arrive at the Frontrunner station in Salt Lake, you can transfer free onto Trax (SLC's light rail for you out-of-towners). We hopped on Trax and rode it to the Salt Lake Public Library, where we explored and browsed. After that, we headed across the street to the City/County Building, where we happened to catch a local TV reporter filming a segment for the news. Alex even asked him for his autograph, which he graciously gave him.

Next, we headed over to the Gateway for lunch, along with some window shopping and sampling all the wondrous scents in Hollister. (The jacket I wore that day still smells like Hollister.)

It was a fun-filled day enjoying some of the sights, sounds and interesting people of Salt Lake City.

Region Cross Country Champs!

So proud of the boys from B-Town who took first in the Region 6 Cross Country Championships yesterday! This was truly a thrilling win for BHS. They haven't been the region champs for 16 years -- in all of Parker's lifetime! Parker's buddy and co-runner Cubby took first place overall. Parker took 5th -- not quite where he had hoped to place, but a respectable finish nonetheless.... just seconds after the first four finishers. He ran the course in 16:06. He was 2nd place on his team. All the participants ran their hearts out... and one of Parker's teammates even took a diving leap over the finish line -- helping the team clinch the title with that heroic effort.

The state meet is in two weeks, and BHS will be well represented. This is an amazing group of boys, who are so supportive and encouraging to one another. It's always so wonderful to see how they cheer each other on. The girls' team made it to state, as well. Can't wait to watch that exciting race.

Way to go Braves!!!
