I've decided that my nephew Jonathan should receive the dad of the year award. When it came time for family pictures, he let his little girls decide what everyone should wear. They wanted to dress like Fancy Nancy. He went along with it. :)
They were definitely adorable...and Jonathan couldn't have been more handsome in his suit, bowler hat and even white gloves. :) I never would have guessed when this boy was a teenager that one day he would be wrapped so completely around the fingers of all these adorable girls. :)

Burnham Family
It was chilly Saturday morning when I met this family for a portrait session.
BRRRRR!
Despite the cold, they were great sports, we had a lot of fun, and I think we came away with some fun shots. :)

J&K Anderson Family Photo Extravaganza 2012
Love this family. I would say that even if we weren't related. :)
I love taking pictures of them each fall. I always love seeing what cute outfits Kate has come up with for herself, Jason and the girls. Again, she didn't disappoint.
We had a lot of fun doing these pictures.
And a special shout-out to my trusty assistant Alex! Couldn't do it without him!

A Bug's Life
Alex is taking an honors science class this year.
He has to do a bug collection. (Yay....can you feel my excitement?)
One day, we saw something very large fly into our yard and land on the grass.
We approached it carefully.
It was a praying mantis!!
We were thrilled! What a great addition this would be to the collection.
We put it in plastic sand bucket we had on our patio and stared at it. It stared back with sad, pleading eyes. The thought of having to kill it and stab it with a pin to add it to the collection made me want to cry.
Luckily when we told Alex's teacher about the praying mantis, she said that we could just take a picture of it to include in the collection. I guess praying mantises...manti??? are nice, friendly bugs that are good for the environment...so science teacher gave us permission not to kill him.
I was relieved to hear this. I think the praying mantis was, too. Not sure the other bugs who didn't share such a lucky fate felt the same. :)
Incidentally, after I took these shots, we set Manny free. :)
Anyway, here he....(or she) is. :)
