Simon -- A Little Hero

Yesterday I had the privilege of doing my first session for the Littlest Heroes Project. Simon and his family were so much fun to work with. They were totally up for an urban session, so we met at Union Station in Ogden. I haven't had time to edit all the pictures yet, but here are some of my favorites so far! Thanks Simon and family! You guys were great!

Silver Lake Get-together

I met up with the Utah Peas on Saturday at Silver Lake near Brighton. We had fun doing some shots and hiking around the lake together. It was so beautiful up there. Amy's daughter Audrey was a very willing model. So cooperative and patient! And Travis and Janae's daughter Paisley is always fun to photograph, too! Here are a few of my favorites.

Fun New Urban Location

My friend Janae invited me to join her and some other photographers at a fun urban location today. Janae scouted this out a while back. It is perfect for urban sessions. All kinds of great rundown, old brick buildings... There's no traffic. Even a big huge pile of tires surrounded by broken beer bottles and other great stuff! It was fun to meet Janae's friend Jen and her adorable little girls.

I definitely will keep this on my list of great locations. Thanks, Janae!!

Afterwards, Janae and I went to the D.I. (a thrift store for those of you not familiar with it). I came away with some great treasures I didn't know I needed. Cool photography props, mostly. Mallory and Alex got some great stuff, too. I guess I got the D.I. gene from my mom! That was her favorite hangout!

Here's some shots from today! :)

Put Me In Coach! I'm Ready to Play!

Alex's baseball season ended yesterday. He has had so much fun playing and was sad when it was over yesterday. Here are some shots from a couple of different games. And I know I'm biased, but don't you think his face is just the cutest little thing you've ever seen under a batting helmet?

Flag-Wavin' Patriotic Nephew of My Uncle Sam

Bonus points to you if you recognize the artist who sings the words in my post title today. (It's Johnny Cash, by the way...my dad's favorite!).

The 4th of July is a time full of tradition for my extended family. For years, my siblings and I have spent the holiday at my dad's along with his wife and their children. After my parents divorced, my dad remarried nearly 25 years ago. So, I have my older brother and sister (we call ourselves the First Litter) along with my four younger siblings (known as the Second Litter). We're an interesting bunch and tend to confuse people who aren't familiar with our family dynamics. But, hey. It works for us! Despite my dad's death two years ago, we've held on to our tradition to gather on the 4th -- his favorite holiday. (Mostly because of the fireworks. He was a pryo from way back.) Our celebration consists of attending the local parade, lighting lots of fireworks, cooking hamburgers and hot dogs on "The George" (George Foreman grill -- my dad loved it!) and spending the hot afternoon at the movie theater. We also just like hanging out together laughing and talking. This year, we also had fun playing Rock Band -- although the teenagers got a little frustrated with us adults who aren't as expert as they are at video games. But I must say I was an awesome singer, consistently scoring in the 90s! You should hear my rendition of Should I Stay or Should I Go. (The teenagers probably thought I should go....)

In the time since my dad's passing, our 4th of July get-together also includes a trip to the cemetery to visit his grave and pay our respects....which in my dad's case includes lighting a few fireworks in his honor.

This is my little brother Luke at my dad's grave.

Here's to you, Daddy. We love you.

Sugar and Spice

These four little girls -- sisters -- are just as cute as can be, and, lucky me, I got to photograph them today. We had a lot of fun. Editing these pictures today made me smile. :)

Helena -- 3 Months Old

Helena is 3 months old already! It seems like just yesterday I was posting newborn photos, and now here she is at the ripe age of 3 months! Helena's parents (my nephew Jason and his wife Kate) live near us now that Jason has graduated from law school, which makes photo ops with their two little girls so much easier. Yay.

Helena was full of smiles until I pulled out the camera. She was still wide-eyed and pleasant, but not so smiley. We finally managed to coax a few out of her.
