There's No Crying in Baseball.....

Quick.

Name the movie my post title comes from.

Did you get it?

If you didn't, I'll tell you. It's A League of Their Own. Very funny movie, by the way and we love to use that line at our house...not just when it has to do with baseball.

But this time, it seemed to fit so perfectly with the pictures I took at Alex's baseball game the other night.

It was an exciting game full of all the drama I've come to expect from the Mueller Park Minor League. We'll get to the crying part in a minute.

First, here's my favorite shot of the night....LOVE LOVE LOVE that evening sun!

Love the expression on Alex's face as he realizes he hit the ball! Woo hoo! He was so excited!

He runs for first....with a look of sheer terror on his face! He was SAFE!! Hooray!!!

Unfortunately, the kid who hit after him, nailed a grounder that headed right toward second. Alex ran as fast as he could, but didn't get there in time. OUT at second! This shot is so full of emotion, I just had to post it, even though it makes ME want to cry when I look at it. Poor guy! He was so disappointed. But his coach gave Alex a high five on his way into the dugout and after the game, told him how important his hit was to the rest of the team. It started a streak of hits that helped them win the game 5-4.

And thank heavens there were popsicles for after-game treats. A popsicle makes everything all better...well, at least when you're 9!

Oh, and if my friend Becky reads this, she'll be happy to know that Alex's team defeated the Yankees!!
