Candlelight

One of the gifts my oldest son gave me for Christmas this year was this candle. It seems like a simple gift, but it means so much to me. I love scented candles and frequently have one burning on my stove. I thought it was sweet and perceptive of him to notice. I've been enjoying the candle's warm French vanilla scent today and missing my son, who left last night to return to college. It was so nice to have him home for Christmas break. Our house seems a little emptier today. Tonight when we sit down to eat dinner, I'll miss seeing his face across the table. His college isn't that far away, but it's really not the distance that matters, I've decided. It's the fact that we have entered this new phase in our lives. It truly seems like yesterday that he was playing with Legos on the family room floor, and now he's a freshman in college. Time truly flies!

Love the sentiment in here, Meg. I feel your pain--my DS was home for the holidays, and now he's back at school. This has been going on for years, and it never gets any easier when they leave.
Is that a Salt City candle? I LOVE those!

Great job capturing the candlelight... and touching sentiment about your son. I feel like I'm going to blink and my son is going to graduate high school. Hopefully he'll be home again soon! :)

This is bringing a tear to my eye as our oldest son returned to college this evening and I miss him already. It is so nice to have them home at the holidays, isn't it? Love candles and often have them burning in our kitchen. Nice warm glow you've captured in these shots.

My oldest will be a college freshman next fall. I am getting sad at the thought of that big family change... Nice of him to notice and get you a nice candle. The pictures are nice. I like candle against the solid black background.

That is such an awesome and touching post. I really enjoy vanilla scent too. My son graduates in May. He attends a private christian boarding school about an hour away. He left this weekend to go back after being home for almost 3 weeks. I can understand the pain. I hope you have good week.
