I'm finally putting away the Christmas decorations! Every year, we leave the day after Christmas to spend time with my husband's family in Arizona. When we come back, it still looks like Christmas morning in our living room. This week, I've had sick kids, so my progress in cleaning up has been sllloooowww!
As I was putting things away, I decided to take some shots of our little red glass Christmas ornaments.
The year my husband and I celebrated our first Christmas together, we were poor, starving college students -- well not really starving, but definitely poor. We didn't have any Christmas decorations, so I splurged and paid probably about $5 for this little box of ornaments. That's about all we had on our tree that first year. Over the years (we'll celebrate our 20th anniversary in February), we've hung these ornaments on our tree. In all that time, only one has broken -- they've survived numerous moves and being grabbed by the little hands of our four children.
These days, these ornaments share the tree with many other decorations, but the little red glass balls will always hold a special place in my heart.

What a great story! I have some ornaments from my dh and my first Christmas together that I still hang on the tree, for sentimental reasons. I never really thought to photograph them though!
Ditto. I also like the catch lights on the ornaments.
I love your story and the color. Really great. I also put away mine today...its always a little sad. I think its so unique and wonderful to find people who have been together so long. Its inspiring!
Great photos, but even better story! Thanks for sharing both with us.
The reflections are great! We have a similar little bag of red apple ornaments from our poor first married Christmas days that we always hang to remember! Thanks for sharing. Hope everyone is feeling better soon
Love the story behind the box of red ornaments. These are beautiful photos with lots of memories attached. My goal for this weekend is to put away all the Christmas decorations - it always makes me a little sad that another Christmas is over, but I love the clean look once everything is put away.
Ilike these, especially the DOF on the second one

I love the reflection in the ornaments, but the story behind them is priceless. I love that you still have them (in tact) after 20 years.
I love the red, it stands out so nicely. And how cool with the reflections, that is so neat!

Ok first I am a total Christmas NUTTER and I love red so your photos totally grabbed right off the bat. Then I read your story and it made me love them even more.
Everything about this photo makes me think Christmas and family. Great job!
Meg--LOVE the 2nd shot of all the ornaments nestled carefully into their box. Amazing that they have all (but one) survived through the years.
Margaret, what a sweet story! I love the pictures and the nice memories they represent :)
