Focus On Winter

Snow, snow and more snow! That's what's been happening at my house lately. I love the way the snow looks when it has first fallen -- before it turns all gray and slushy. We got about six or seven inches today.

Looking at this snow-covered swing in the backyard has me looking forward to spring, though.

Settings: 1/400 at f/4. 100 ISO.

CC always appreciated!

I know what you mean...its nice when it first comes down...so white and perfect. About 3 hours later...all the plow trucks are out mucking it up! Great photo. I love the swing.

This photo evokes so many emotions...I really love it! Would look really cool with a vintage action too!

Our snow is finally all melting. But -- of course -- we'll get more yet! It's pretty to look at in pictures, though! :)

That swing looks so sad and lonely! :) Like the blue against the white.

Meg--love the contrast of the blue against the snow. Nothing like fresh snow!

lOVE it! We've got about 6inches on the ground and expecte to get some more tomorrow. I love the white stuff though, so it does not bother me at all. Your photo really feels cold (in a good way.)

I live in Ogden I know what you mean about snow we got 12". I like the bright blue against the snow.

I don't know what it is about an empty playground swing that I like, but I love the contrast between the blue of the swing and the white of the snow :)

I wish we had snow here, right now it is brown and dreary and some snow would be lovely. Beautiful photo, it is so calm and peaceful...everything i think of when I think about winter :)

Nice shot. I feel like i"m there. Great color and not so bright you can't see detail in the snow. I can feel the "dreary" of the snowday.

I love fresh fallen snow too, but after that, yuck! Great capture with the contrast in colors and feelings.

Love the focus on the swing. Looks like a lonely scence, the swing is just waiting for kids to return to it in the spring. We are expected to get a couple of inches of snow today, just as most of the dirty looking snow from the last storm had melted away the last few days. I don't mind the fresh white snow, but hate that dirty mess when it's melting!

I love the contrast of the snow vs. the swing, both in the colors and in the mood. Our snow is looking pretty yucky right now.

That blue swing just pops.

The blue against the white does look good. I can't wait for spring either

I am with you...I can't wait for spring!! I hear you guys are getting quite the pounding this year from some good snow storms. It makes me glad I'm not there right now ;)

That is more than we got in SL. They reported an inch, but at work and at my house we weren't even close to that. At least you weren't like N. Ogden, almost 2 feet, that is just too much.

I like the composition of this shot, the dof is good to. I just wish that the colors jumped out a little more. It seems to dark and dreary, but maybe that is what you were aiming for, although I think snow is fun so brightening it up would help I think. This might be a problem with my monitor too, my work computer isn't calibrated.
