Ginormous Icicles!

We've had so much snow and ice here lately. And yes, it's getting a little old. I've watched this icicle grow......and grow.....and grow.... on the corner of our workshop for the past several days. It's supposed to get warmer this weekend, so I thought I better get a shot of it before it melted away...
I don't think you can truly appreciate the ginormity (just had to use that word...my kids use it all the time) in this photo, but seriously, it is large!

I think these shots qualify for the aperture theme, too. I took them all at f/2.8.

BRRR! Anyone for some hot chocolate?

I will go for some hot chocolate. That 2nd shot is awesome. My kids wouldn't leave that up long enough to get so big

Yes, I'll take mine with whip cream and a candycane... just make sure it's not too hot ;). Really cool pictures. I hope you're surviving the cold.

I took some photos tonight of the giant icicle on my front porch also! (I'm in SLC too)

Mine didn't turn out though.
Great job!

Yes! I'll join you for hot chocolate, and we can stir it with those icicles to cool it down! I love your different shots here. I am glad you captured it before it broke off. ML

Very cool! The other day we were driving in the car and I guess an icicle grew in my Son's cup of water he left in the car... He was sitting back there and all of a sudden he yells out, "It's a crystal, it's it's an icicle! It's a miracle!!!" He is such a dork!

Looks like our kind of weather. I love the close-ups of the icicle, especially with the bluish background.

I love your icicles but I don't want any of that weather here. Ohh makes me cold just looking at them. You have some great shots.
