ALOHA!!!

So, I haven't blogged in a while. I'm sure it's created a devastating emptiness for my loyal readership! :)

But, I had a good excuse. I WAS IN HAWAII!!! Yay! Derek and I went for a belated 20th anniversary celebration. Our anniversary was February 12, but when you are married to a CPA, no celebrations are allowed until after April 15. As luck would have it, Nate finished his finals at BYU shortly after that, so he was given the privilege of being the man in charge while we were gone. When we got home, Nate told me he would never want to have my job, which translated means they appreciate me or something like that.

This was my first trip to Hawaii. Derek's too. We stayed on Oahu near Waikiki Beach. We were busy busy busy the whole week. Today's shots are from our first day. We arrived in Honolulu about 11 a.m., so we had part of the day to explore the island. We visited the Dole Pineapple Plantation and took a tour and enjoyed some delicious pineapple whip! YUM! Then we drove over to the North Shore and got a glimpse of that. Wow! So beautiful. I really fell in love with the North Shore area. It's much less crowded than Waikiki and so green and lush.

Forgive me for the picture overload these next few days. I took more than 500 shots. (Don't worry. I promise I won't post them all). But I'm sure you'd love for me to invite you over to watch them all on DVD. What? You're busy that night?

:)

The first shot of me in Hawaii -- a self-portrait taken in the rearview mirror of our rented convertible.

The Pineapple Express, which we rode through the plantation. This is a fun and interesting ride, where we learned all about Hawaii's pineapple industry.

Some pineapples growing. I had never seen a pineapple plant before and was surprised at how small and close the ground they are. For some reason, I thought they were much bigger plants...like trees or something. We don't see many pineapples growing here in Utah.

A view from the Pineapple Express. I was so amazed at how green everything was.

If you visit the North Shore, you must stop for a plate of shrimp from a shrimp truck. They're all over the place. Yum!

We brake for shrimp trucks.

Check out this beautiful beach. The water there is sooooo blue! Paradise!

Another beach shot. Thanks for lettting me share some of my fun trip!
