Each fall, this day is full of mixed emotions for me. In some ways, it's exciting...my kids get to have new experiences, learn new things and make new friends. On the other hand, the beginning of a new school year is another reminder of how quickly time is passing. Parker started high school today. EEK! Mallory went to 6th grade -- her last year of elementary school. YIKES! And Alex started 3rd grade. WOW! Nate was kind enough to remind me this morning that I must be getting old because Parker is going to high school. Well, to make me feel really old, I realized that this is the first year since 1994 that Nate hasn't gone to the first day of school. Last year was a bit different because he started his first day of school at BYU. But this year he won't be starting school at all because he leaves for his mission on September 17. Let's not even think about that today. The first day of school is traumatic enough.
Anyway.....here are some first-day-of-school shots of Parker, Mallory and Alex.

OH, first day of school .... love the new school supplies, new clothes, and all that fun stuff .... but I agree, it makes me feel old, too .... and it is hard to let someone else see your kids more than you do .... seriously, can't they just squeeze everything into a few hours?
as always, love the pictures!
You did great on these. I espically like the first one.
great job on the back lighting in the 3rd shot.
those are great pictures. start of school is so exciting but so is the mission, plus just think he will be home for christmas 2010.
Ahhh....I totally feel you. I will probably be too busy crying to take photos of my little girl on her first big day of school. I thought I was going to be ok about this, but apparently I have more emotions than I thought.
These are awesome and a great way to capture their steps into their new grades.
Oh wow Margaret! Your kids are all at such great and different stages in their life. It is so exciting, they are all so adorable.
I feel exactly the same way about the first day of school! The kids look great!
You got some great first day shots, they all look eager and ready!
Ohhh- such cute pictures! I didnt know your oldest was leaving on a mission so soon! That is awesome! (well- bittersweet for you. Both my parents are converts to the church so I love missionaries!)
