Monster Mash

Another Halloween has come and gone. It seems like it creeped up on us all of the sudden. Whew!

It was a fun day. The kids were out of school. The end of first term was Thursday, and they always have the following day off. It's called Quality Teaching Day. It kind of cracks me up that Quality Teaching Day takes place when there are no students around. :) If you ask me, it's pretty easy to be a quality teacher when you don't have any kids around bothering you.... But I digress.

Anyway, on Friday, we went to a party hosted by Kate and Jan. It was lots of fun. Fun games, great food and awesome company.

After the party, Alex, Mallory and I went home and carved our pumpkins. Nothing like waiting until the last minute. Like I said, Halloween somehow just seemed to sneak up on me.

Then, Friday night was trick or treating. The weather was great until right around the time we headed out, then it started to rain. We were undaunted, however, and braved the rain until the candy buckets were full!

Libby dressed as a very thrilled Elmo!

My picture of Rachel taking a picture of Maddy showing off her decorated mini pumpkin.

Corinne and Alex.

Tempe and Maddy had as much fun decorating themselves as they did decorating their pumpkins!

Helena napped through much of the party, but managed to wake up and join us at the end.

Jan and Kate finishing the food preparations so we can eat!

Alex digging out pumpkin guts.
Surprisingly, Mallory is not at all sqeamish about digging out pumpkin guts.

Alex's alien pumkin, and behind it, a jack-o-lantern in honor of our missionary Nate!

Mallory and Alex ready to head out to get some treats!

And I just had to post this. Here's our neighbor Gary as the Jolly Green Giant. Not just anyone could pull that off, but he was perfect for the part. Later when I saw him, though, the rain had washed away a lot of the green. :)

I love Libby's expression! It looks slightly regal and disapproving, and totally adorable at the same time. And that's some Green Giant!
