Anyway...on to Monday. We decided to take the subway to Brooklyn and then walk back across the Brooklyn Bridge. We had heard there was a really good pizza place on the Brooklyn side, so we headed over there for lunch. Grimaldi's is a popular place, but luckily we only had to wait about 15 minutes before we got a table. It was very yummy, very New York, foldable pizza! :)
Mallory, who is not a fan of pizza, opted for a New York pretzel instead. It's almost as big as she is!
Alex jumps for joy at the sight of the Brooklyn Bridge sign!
Grimaldi's...yum! You must go there if you're ever in Brooklyn!
The head of Grimaldi's welcoming committee!
Parker is looking forward to some pizza!
Alex wonders if it's ever going to be our turn!
Worth the wait! YUM!
After Grimaldi's we wanted some dessert, of course, so we headed over to the Brooklyn Ice Cream Factory and got ice cream cones to eat while we walked across the bridge. Then, we began our walk. It was nice and breezy and took us about 20-30 minutes.
Halfway across!
View of Manhattan.
Once across, we hopped on the subway and headed back to our hotel for a little while, and then caught the subway to the Bronx for the Yankees game! (Sorry, Becky.....somehow Alex has become a huge Yankees fan...) It was quite an experience to be there in new Yankee Stadium. We had seats way up at the top, but it was still fun. Alex almost choked on popcorn before the game started and I think grossed out the people sitting in front of us with his gagging and retching noises. Our family's used to that by now...he has a very strong gag reflex...
We enjoyed the game and were happy that the Yankees won. And Alex was thrilled when Derek bought him a jersey. He wore it every day after that, I think. I always made him take it off before we ate. If you've ever seen Alex eat, you'll know why!
We joined the throngs of people crowding onto the subway after the game and arrived back at our hotel safely. Another fun day!

You guys had SUCH a fun trip!! Love the walk across the bridge, especially. Good for the game, too, and the new stadium. :-)
Oh Alex, you break my heart! Mallory is kind of breaking it too--how can she not like pizza? It looks like you guys had a blast. We spent all our days right in Manhattan. I'd like to venture out more on my next visit to NYC.
holly pretzel! I am glad you ate at the pizza place. My cousin said on the weekends its easily a 2 hour wait.
I love the bridge shot!
Your photos really make me want to go there someday, LOL
Fantastic bridge photo! You are wise people; not getting up early! Wonderful captures.
I'm loving your trip to NY! I've had ice cream at the same place, after my trip across the bridge. You got a lot of great shots! :)
What great shots. I really like the bridge one.
I a really enjoying your NYC shots! Your kids will never forget such a cool trip!
Your shots of the bridge are wonderful - and what an experience for a young boy (and I suspect the older boys too) to go to a ball game. Man, you were up there weren't you. Great captures and what memories.
How fun that you got to cross the Brooklyn Bridge - never done it - and will next time I go! and will have to try that pizza!
We aren't morning people either :). It sounds like such a great time, I really hope to get to NYC someday. What an adorable family too!!
